As EUCRTA’s Program Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our advocacy, research, and policy initiatives. This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about democracy and governance. You will support key projects, assist in stakeholder engagement, and help bridge the gap between the Western Balkans and European institutions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

🔹 Ensure seamless coordination of EUCRTA’s activities – Provide administrative and logistical support for advocacy efforts, research projects, and strategic initiatives.

🔹 Support high-impact advocacy campaigns and events – Assist in planning, organizing, and executing meetings, events, and outreach activities with EU stakeholders and civil society partners.

🔹 Conduct research and prepare briefing materials – Gather relevant policy insights, draft reports, and prepare briefings on democracy, governance, and EU integration-related topics.

🔹 Enhance EUCRTA’s communications and outreach – Support media engagement, content development, and external communications to strengthen EUCRTA’s visibility and influence.

🔹 Maintain efficient documentation and internal coordination – Ensure structured record-keeping, report tracking, and workflow management, facilitating smooth collaboration within the team.

 

Key Qualifications & Skills:

🔹 Strong understanding of Serbia, the Western Balkans, and EU institutional processes – Knowledge of EU governance structures and the role of civil society in democratic development.

🔹 Proven experience in administrative support, project assistance, or related roles – Experience in event coordination, office management, or logistics is highly valued.

🔹 Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities – Capacity to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and support complex advocacy initiatives.

🔹 Excellent research and writing skills – Ability to produce briefing materials, reports, and policy insights in a clear and concise manner.

🔹 Fluency in English and Serbian-Bosnian-Croatian (French is an asset) – Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences.

🔹 Tech-savvy and adaptable – Proficiency in Microsoft Office, online collaboration tools, and digital communication platforms.

Desirable: 

  • French or Dutch proficiency is a plus
  • Comfort with technology tools (e.g., cloud-based collaboration tools, project management, HR, and finance software)
  • Some familiarity with the political context in Serbia and the Western Balkans
  • Experience with fundraising, grants, and donor management

Legal & Location Requirements

  • In order to qualify for this role, due to administrative considerations, candidates must have the legal right to work in Belgium (preference for Belgian nationals or permanent residents who can handle local administrative procedures, as we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for in-person meetings or events in Belgium.

Key Responsibilities:

🔹 Shape and execute EUCRTA’s advocacy strategy – Develop and implement targeted advocacy initiatives that strengthen democratic governance, transparency, and EU integration of the Western Balkans.

🔹 Engage with EU institutions and key stakeholders – Establish and maintain strong relationships with EU policymakers, civil society organizations, think tanks, and media to ensure that regional democratic challenges are reflected in European policy discussions.

🔹 Be the voice of EUCRTA in Brussels – Represent the organization in high-level policy dialogues, public events, working groups, and strategic discussions that shape democracy-related policies in the region.

🔹 Drive impact-oriented projects – Lead and oversee advocacy-focused projects that elevate the role of local democratic actors in EU decision-making processes.

🔹 Connect the Western Balkans with EU institutions – Facilitate cross-border cooperation between civil society in the region and European policymakers, ensuring local perspectives are effectively communicated and influence policy debates.

🔹 Produce high-quality advocacy materials – Draft policy briefs, reports, strategic papers, and statements that translate research and field expertise into actionable recommendations for EU decision-makers.

🔹 Support EUCRTA’s growth and sustainability – Contribute to fundraising efforts, project development, and grant proposals to expand EUCRTA’s impact and resources.

 

Key Qualifications & Skills:

🔹 Deep understanding of Serbia, the Western Balkans, and EU policymaking – Strong knowledge of EU institutions, decision-making processes, and policies related to democracy, governance, and enlargement in the region.

🔹 Proven expertise in advocacy and policy engagement – Demonstrated experience in advocacy, policy research, or project management related to democracy, rule of law, civic engagement, or institutional accountability.

🔹 Excellent communication and writing skills – Ability to produce high-impact policy briefs, reports, and advocacy materials, as well as confidently represent EUCRTA in public discussions, stakeholder meetings, and media appearances.

🔹 Multilingual proficiency – Fluency in English and Serbian-Bosnian-Croatian (French is an asset). Strong ability to communicate complex policy issues across different audiences.

🔹 Strategic thinking and independent problem-solving – Ability to develop and execute advocacy strategies, navigate political dynamics, and identify opportunities to strengthen democratic reforms in the EU-WB context.

🔹 Experience in stakeholder engagement – Strong background in working with EU institutions, civil society, think tanks, media, and international organizations, with the ability to build coalitions and foster collaboration.
